Oscar Trivia
Since the Oscars were yesterday, I just had to share this piece of trivia that I came across today.
To prevent movie stars and their heirs from auctioning off their Oscars, in 1950 the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences created the rule that before selling their statuettes, winners have to first offer them to the academy for $1.
