Flame the Flying Beta
I just finished posting that I was going to watch TV when I stopped in the kitchen to get a coke. I looked at the two beta tanks that are on the counter and asked Steven, "Where's Flame?" I look down in the sink and see him lying in a bowl, not moving. I pick the bowl up and dump him back in his tank and he starts swimming around like nothing has happened. I bought a new beta today (a birthday fish for the birthday fishgirl) and had placed the tanks next to each other so they could puff up and protect their territories (I've read articles that say they're happier when they can do this occasionally). I guess Flame freaked out and flung himself out of his tank. Steven said that it's a good thing I walked into the kitchen since he obviously hadn't been out of the tank that long. Hopefully he won't have stressed himself too much, but it was completely freaky to see him lying in the sink like that! Poor Flame the Flying Beta!

I've had fish since I was 6 until I went away to college and we had several that did the flying leap when we were trying to clean out the tank and they were stuck in buckets for an hour or so. I especially remember the kissing gourami fish that jumped out unbeknownst to me. I found him accidentally when I stepped on him with my bare feet. I quickly him threw him back in the water and he lived to be a ripe old age although with a black splotchy scar on his head... since it was the 80's though, he was named Gorbachev and his friend was named Reagan!

It's weird what animals do in misguided attempts to find a better situation. My hamster used to walk right off tabletops or stairs; I was the most vigilant nine year old on the block when she was out for a walk.

What a Wonderful Day!
I'm drained (and I still need to go over some work), but I just wanted to thank everyone for the birthday wishes, e-mails, cards, and posts on their own blog. I have felt so special and loved and I must thank each and every one of you for being so wonderful to me on my special day. :-) I had a long meeting and lots of work to do today, so I didn't get to make many blog rounds, but I will catch up tomorrow. I am now off to beg for a foot rub and watch "Once and Again" so everyone have a fabulous night! ~smoochies~

Monday Mission 2.11
Here's PromoGuy's Monday Mission 2.11:
1. As a child, did you ever wish you had a different name, maybe a name you wish your parents had chosen? To what would change it if you could?
Actually, my name is legally Kimberly, but there were four other Kimberlys in my class. I'm an original, damn it!, so when I was about twelve I experimented with different spellings (Kimberlie, Kymberly, and others) until I settled on Kymberlie. It's different and unique, and even though people never get it right, I like it and think it suits me well.
2. What skill have you been wanting to learn but have just kept putting off?
I took a couple of Javascript and DHTML classes last year when I was laid off, but I really need to learn more computer-wise like CSS and PHP.
3. Are there there any regional foods you love but just can't get where you are living now? (burger chain, ice cream shop, etc. that was in your hometown but has no locations where you are today)
When I went to the UK with my aunt and uncle when I was fifteen they had these great chocolate bars that I loved (something with an s or a c, can't remember now). I'm not from the UK, but that's as close as I can get on this question since I've lived in Houston all my life.
4. What recreational activity would you take up if you had the time and/or money?
Hmmm. Does traveling count? If I had more money, maybe playing higher limit poker.
5. What's the biggest lie you've ever told? Has anybody ever found out?
The only thing that I can think of is when my ex-fiance and I broke up when I was twenty and I was so depressed that I couldn't even get out of bed. I would tell my parents that I'd gone to school even though I basically missed the entire semester (we broke up like two weeks into the term). I think my mom knew, especially when my grades came in and they were all drops.
What was your favorite Saturday morning cartoon when you were growing up? I used to love Penelope Pitstop and the Wacky Racers. There was another cartoon that came on that had something to do with monsters, but I can't remember what it was.
Let's say one of your relatives slipped you a $100 bill, to help you out for the month. Your significant other didn't see it, would you tell them or keep it to yourself? Tell him since Steven and I don't really share money. He'd be happy for me and not expect me to share.
BONUS: Whatever happened to Saturday night?
Finding a sweetheart and holding her tight?

Weekend Break
As some of you may (or may not have) noticed, I took the weekend off from blogging. My site (along with a couple of others) went down Friday night and by the time it came up on Saturday, I'd already spent a solid day playing http://www.neuroticfishbowl.com/archives/003109.htmldominos at Pogo.com, reading (I've already finished Seven Up by Janet Evanovich), and conquering the world on Civilization: Call To Power, and drinking blenders full of raspberry piña coladas. In other words, I'd lost the ability to be coherent and blog at the same time. ;-) I am back now and plan on catching up on some blog reading and posting later today. Right now, though, I've got a big meeting to go to, so everyone enjoy their Monday morning (at least as much as it's possible to enjoy a Monday morning).

Happy B'day!!!
I find that more often than not the weekends keep me away from the computer. I have become a habital weekDAY poster as opposed to continuing through the weekend, but then I always have to play catch-up on Monday morning!!!
