Happy New Year From The Neurotic Fishbowl
It's that time of year again - the time when people reflect on the year and its events and make resolutions for the one to come.
I've examined this year and a lot of things have lead me to become bitter and unhappy (though you don't really see that much here). My main resolution (in addition to the ones about losing weight and saving money that probably every one of us makes) this year is to be to be happier. To let the little things mean more to me. To let all the shit that I can't control not get me down. To love myself more and remember that I am amazing.
This was going to be one of those posts where I wished everyone a happy new year, but it got a little melancholy all of a sudden, but now we are moving past that.
I've been blogging for just under a year and I have met many, many, many amazing people online. People who I talk to, consider good friends, and wish that I lived nearer too. If I don't know you yet, say hi. Don't ever be afraid to leave a comment, even if it's to disagree with me (but please, be nice when you do it).
There's been all kinds of talk about blogging A-Lists out in the blogosphere and I really don't have the time or the energy to post a huge amount about it (we have to leave in a half hour and I'm sitting her in my underwear!), but remember, the only way you get to know someone is by talking to them, even if they do get a gazillion hits a day and you only get five. I know some of those "A-List" people, and what you realize is that they are just people when you get to know them. It doesn't matter how many hits they get. They are just like you and me.
So, on that note, I hope everyone has a safe and very, very happy New Year. I'll be back tomorrow afternoon, so say hi so I can come visit you on my day off. :-)

Amen to that! :-) I mean, look at Jish. Totally nice, down to earth guy and yet he's been quoted in major magazines about his blog.
I hope you have a great time tonight! And those are some great resolutions too! Now here is your New Year's kiss... *SMOOCH!* Wishing you nothing but the best in 2003!

Trying to find a nice blog tool to set my wife ( a time-stressed middleschool teacher)up with. Your site was so attractive and sweet, I think she may be sold on Movable Type.

Participation Positives
I may no longer be Monday, but since Jess was late posting, I figured my Participation Positives could be late too.
- I put three new skins up in a week.
- It's a short work week
- I got to talk to that damned tart again this week on AIM
- My Comptoir Sud Pacifique’s Amour de Cacao perfume (it smells like chocolate! Delicious!) is on its way to me.
- I have beautiful orange roses thanks to my sweetie
- We no longer have to lock Bella in the bathroom during the day and I feel like a better cat mommy
- Ibocea, my EverQuest character, finally made it to level 40
- I'm *this* close to getting some projects done
- It's almost a new year!
- I love and am loved

Pour Your Misery Down on Me
Taking advantage of Robyn's Red-tag Sale, I snatched a PSD of her Shirley Manson header and have produced a new skin that really tickles my fancy. You can view the end product here. Enjoy.

Boy Toy
Man, I never would have guessed, but it turns out Demi Moore and Tobey Maguire. Never in a million years would I have picked the two of them as a couple. Way to go on grabbing a young hottie, Demi!

ugh :P

oooh la la, Tobey Maguire is so darned yummy. Something about that upside-down kiss in Spiderman makes me go 'HMMMM'. ;) With Demi though? Odd! Good for her though.

Zonk No More
I got rid of the Zonkboard to see if it's been the problem with the slow load time on the site. Could everyone let me know if they've had a problem, are still having a problem, or have had no problems with the site loading? Thanks!
Update: I was in the MT Forums getting ready to ask a question when I came upon a post titled "Load Time" in the Tips and Tricks forum. Girlie found out that it's actually the Fast Online Users count script that's killing all the pages. I guess the Zonkboard will reappear and that might disappear. I really did like seeing how many people were on my site at any given time, though. :-(

It's still really slow. : ( Actually mine is slow and so are most of the other bloggers I usually read. I thought maybe it was just my crappy ISP. Hmm.
Posted by Shanni at December 31, 2002 12:43 AM
What was killing mine was the wander-lust code. I had to take it off last night. Are you running it here?
Posted by robyn at December 31, 2002 04:31 AM
that seems to have worked. sorry to point it out. :(
Posted by kat at December 31, 2002 05:45 AM
I had to delete my fastonline user script from my site too because of loading time. I wonder where I can get another script like that? It was good.
Posted by irach at December 31, 2002 01:06 PM
For some reason your site is loading super super slow here too. I don't know if it's related but 'I wish, You wish' also loads very slow for me... call me a geek but I timed it, 21 seconds of blank screen. Hmm!
Posted by liz at December 31, 2002 02:09 PM
Yup - fast online users AND wander lust were killing my site's load time too. That sucks.
Posted by Shanni at December 31, 2002 03:19 PM
Fast online code was doing a number on my site too. I have the wanderlust code too. Will have to keep an eye on it.
Posted by Jill at December 31, 2002 03:53 PM
I just got rid of both the Fastonline users and the Wanderlust scripts, and noticed a dramatic difference in my loading time. I knew that Fastonline users was having problems, as mine hadn't been showing the number of users for a few days now.
But I didn't know about the problem with Wanderlust...thanks, Robyn! :-)
